Welcome to Acorns of Hope
Acorns of Hope's mission is to plant trees and educate the community on coastal erosion and the importance of replacing trees destroyed in the devastations of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and the many other recent storms that have ravaged the coastline.
Acorns of Hope is a local tree planting initiative dedicated to restoring South Louisiana's eroding coastline. The project consists of certified arborists and tree advocates from across the country who donate their time and efforts to annually ride bicycles and plant Live Oaks along the coast. The "Hope" for this mission is to raise awareness of the coastal erosion crisis and the crucial role which the Chenier Plain and her endangered trees play in lessing this crisis. The Chenier Plain provides the breeding and maturing grounds for most of the seafood catch of the Gulf of Mexico, absorbs storm surge, and is a key center for production and distribution of domestic and imported oil for the USA. The project "Hopes" to begin the reforestation of one of the fastest eroding coastlines in world history.

We at Acorns of Hope encourage anti-litter campaigns. Our environmentally sensitive Louisiana coastline can ill afford the amount of litter we presently tolerate. We need to do a better job of enforcing the no-litter laws. Much of our unfriendly eco-tolerance is because we allow so much litter. If we can obtain a zero tolerance to litter, we could quickly begin to have more respect for the land.
Recycle, recycle, recycle! Acorns of Hope is preparing to be more active with recycling, especially aluminum, plastic, paper and urban renewables such as leaves, logs and limbs. Urban soil decline is a serious issue and recycling would be a major step in reducing urban soil decline and tree failures. Acorns of Hope will begin the sale of recycling bins. If you would like to have your logo or your company's logo placed on one of our recycling bins, please contact our office for more information at (337) 684-5431.
